I am very over weight. I work out for at least an hour 5 times a week and eat healthily but I just can't lose any weight why?
You're not telling the truth about how many months or years you've been working on living healthy. It doesn't happen overnite. If you're very over weight have you considered surgery for reducing your size as an alternative?
it could be your workout routine.
if you're primarily lifting or doing sit ups/push ups it wont help you lose significant amounts of weight. it will only help your muscles. you need to do cardio workouts. remember: your body starts burning calories only after you initially run for twenty minutes. in order to make progress, your body needs to be at work for at least 20-30 minutes.
but it could also be a health condition. thyroid problems can slow metabolism, so I would suggest seeing a doctor. a condition like that could become why can't i lose weightsevere.
It takes time. Make sure you're eating at least 1200 calories a day. Try to eat 5-7 small meals a day so you're always full and your metabolism is always working. This will help kick start it.
Make sure, when doing cardio, you don't over do it. 25 minutes in the right heart rate Zone should be sufficient. If you are in the right hear rate zone this will allow you to burn off the fat contained in the cells. Check up different heart rates online.
You want to do some light weight training. The more muscle you build the more fat you will burn. You can do a circuit training program. Which will be light weight a lot of reps with litte rest in between sets and excercises. This will keep your hear rate up and help burn more calories and allow the growth for lean muscle which is what your looking for.

Make sure you are doing at least 20 mins a day of active cardio (walking, dancing, jogging) Mix it up, keep it fun.
Don't just count calories. Make every calorie count. Choose colorful foods, they are rich in vitamins and antioxidents. Try to eat whole grains rather than white breads. I like making veggie stir frys with brown rice and all sorts of colorful veggies.
Make sure u also are taking in less calories u must lose 3500 calories for a pound u dont have to burn it off by only working out because your body uses calories all day but eating less calories and burning them off helps alot
how long have you been working out? well, eat well and something might happen. if all you're eating is junk food and fast food it won't work.

You should check your thyroid maybe its underactive.
